Don’t Despise Small Beginnings

There is a very good post over at getrichslowly.com on how we should start slowly with our financial goals. “You don’t go from couch potato to marathon runner overnight.”

Savings Account Rates

A friend emailed me last week lamenting the fact that the bank where the savings account he is using to save up for a new home purchase has been dropping his rate “like it’s hot.” Currently at 0.35%! Thanks, Mr. Bernanke.

The good news is that there are still some decent rates out there on savings and money market accounts. ING Direct’s Orange Savings is at 3.0% with no minimum balance. E*Trade Bank’s Complete Savings is at 3.39%. I am sure there are others out there that you guys know about as well. Please don’t leave your money sitting somewhere earning nothing.
