The Barna Group has a new study out on the latest trends in charitable giving. Here are some of the key bullet points I came away with:
- Less than 5% of Americans tithe (give away at least 10% of their income).
- Evangelicals were most likely to tithe (24%).
- Conservatives were next at 12%. Where are the “bleeding hearts?”
- Liberals, agnostics and atheists all gave less than 1% to charitable organizations.
- Protestants are four times more likely than Catholics to give 10% or more.
- Christians are the most generous givers.
What surprises you here?
